Menopause is a natural transition, but the symptoms don't have to define it. At OMNI SCULPT MD, we offer personalized, physician-led programs designed to help you feel like yourself again, from the inside out.
What Is Menopause, and What Causes Symptoms?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, menopause occurs when the ovaries stop producing reproductive hormones, confirmed after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. It happens on average around age 52, though symptoms often begin years earlier during a transitional phase called perimenopause.
The drop in estrogen and progesterone during this transition affects virtually every system in the body. The Mayo Clinic Health System notes that declining estrogen increases the risk of cardiovascular changes, bone density loss, and urogenital symptoms, in addition to the day-to-day discomforts most women experience.
Common symptoms include:
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Sleep disturbances and fatigue
- Mood changes, irritability, and anxiety
- Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
- Vaginal dryness and changes in libido
- Weight changes and shifts in body composition
- Joint discomfort and reduced energy
